He said that there are four to five places in our mind and we will decide on these soon. As a host country, 16 teams of India will be automatically qualified in this tournament. Six continental qualifying tournaments are yet to start.
Besides the Under-17 Women's World Cup, India also showed interest in hosting the Under-20 Women's World Cup. The Under-17 Women's Tournament was started in 2008 and New Zealand hosted it. Spain is the current champion and its seventh phase will be held in India. The Asian teams have been the most successful in this.
North Korea (2008 and 2016) won two, while Japan 2014 and South Korea won a trophy once in 2010. In non-Asian countries, France won 2012 and Spain won the tournament in 2018.
World football's governing body FIFA announced this on Friday. "We have decided that India will host the World Cup in 2020," said FIFA president Giani Infantino after the FIFA Council meeting here.
This is the second time that India will host any FIFA tournament. Earlier, India had hosted the Under-17 Men's World Cup in 2017, whose title was won by England. In the final match in Kolkata, England had beaten Spain 5-2. It will be the seventh season of the Under-17 Women's World Cup, and for the second time, it will be held in Asia.
In 2016, Jordan hosted this competition, which North Korea did its name. France and India had shown interest in hosting the Under-17 World Cup, and finally, India was chosen for it. The competition started in 2008, which was hosted by New Zealand. Spain is the current champion of the tournament.
